The Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad runs across the western suburbs of Chicago, embracing with it many Class 1 Railroads, Industrial Sites and Freight Yards. It provides a convenient orbital route for many of the daily freight trains that polish the rails around the ‘Windy City’. I am watching this on youtube because the blu ray copy that I purchase doesn't work along with vol 18 and 19 that don't work either.
I am very sorry to hear this. Can you pm me and we can sort this out.
Are they out of sand?😮
Superb .... Saving up to purchase the DVD
Good choice!
Nasty wheel slip at 4:40... but at least they don't end up like you-know-who 5 months later.
Hi mate I was the lad at the side of you at tamworth today
Nice to meet you and your Grandad? on Friday - one day I'll get around to publishing what I recorded! Glad the Modern Traction Archive material proved so useful to you! Julian
@@linesidevideoprod thank you mate so much yeah lovely meeting you too bud
The "Real" Little engine that could. they had a pusher engine still wasnt enough oof. Great Vid

What’s going on under the bridge right at the end of the clip on the left hand side there? Is that another 37 that’s had a spot of bother?
Looks like wrong line working due to track maintenance
@@Isochest It looks like there’s a CDA on its side, presumably having derailed on the set of points by the signal?
Quite the variety at Faulconer at the beginning of the clip. RR calls it "North Wye" as well. The Corman train at the end would've operated under the symbol Z545 if loaded, Z544 if empty on the CC Sub(Winchester-Berea segment). Haven't seen the Geeps on that train in a long while. A pair of SD70Ms holds the assignment these days.
It's changed a bit since then for sure! The spur at Trenton (visible at 4:39) was torn out a few years back. Of course Casky has a large yard now that CSX uses sporadically. That two story brick building in Crofton with the balcony is long gone, the gas station expanded their parking lot. Train counts are down too, thanks to PSR...
Great video of the classic & most popular class 47 locomotive.
Hellfire! Lot of my local lines here from back in the day before they became a linear forest.
New tires maybe new Pistons after that hopefully didn't brake a driving rod I grew up with disel 1980s But I read a little on steam in the USA.
Top quality growling!
These things give Alcos a run for their money
Fantastic footage. What happened to those days? Took me right back....
Dreadful!
Brilliant.sounds just like a valenta HST....were the engines the same?
Nope, same manufacturer but different type of engine. Class 56 low revving 127 litre V16 ( 900 rpm ) 3200hp . Valenta in HST hi revving (1500rpm) 79 litres V12 2250 hp. It's the turbo whistle that you can hear that makes them sound similar, at full rev's under load completely different sound. Look on YT for video of Valenta HST and class 56 and you'll hear.
@@jabberwockytdi8901 56's are 246-litre cubic capacity. The engines roots originated from LMS prototypes 10000 and 10001, through to Class 40, Class 50 and then in its penultimate development in the Class 56. Class 50, 50009 was withdrawn equipped with an engine block from a Class 56. English Electric bought Paxman Diesels in 1966 which then became Ruston- Paxman who went on to develop the powerunit. A quote from the Wiki page: The engine and electrical systems were new. The engine is a single Ruston-Paxman-built power unit, the final development of the English Electric CSVT engine, following on from the 16CSVT used in the Class 50".
reminds me of the old merrymaker trips we had from Northampton to skye and staffa and iona. caroline
I worked at South Tottenham signal box in 1984 , one day the signalman next door at Harringay Park Junction phoned me to say 'That's it , I've locked the points in reverse and chucked the signal box key in a bush , I'm on strike in support of Arthur Scargill and the miners ' He stopped the job for around 2 hours if I remember rightly , kept his job though !
I remember at the time there were allegations that the rails at the top of the bank had been greased. The exhaust from the rear loco can be glimpsed as it tries to bank the stationary train.
I was on that tour. If you had turned the camera to face the other way you’d probably see my youthful self leaning out the window smiling away 🤪
What a totally superb video ! took me back to the days of the Skeggies , Not-Beeston ,bowl there for a couple of quick beers then Beeston -Leicester ,those drivers used to whip those choppers hard ,happy days .
Glad you enjoyed it
Great work 👍 Couldn’t beat a 20 Thrash to Skeggy
Thank you - much appreciated!
It was on DVD called Pulling Power, featuring a raft of diesel hauled side views including this one Oban, Lickey, Buxton, Netherfield Jn and Exeter St Thomas all from the mid 80s.
Yes, but not all of it - hence the uncut release. There was lots not included on the DVD - more is good. :-)
Great video. Used to watch 20s trundling out to Comrie colliery exchange sidings from our school. Even into the 80s you’d see the odd pug being used to bring the coal down from the pit. Meant little to us, daily stuff, if only I’d known!! 📷
Glad you enjoyed it
A few bygones there (except for the Leven branch, recently resurrected) but oh for 2024 video quality!
I agree with the quality side of things - but who would have known at the time. Where's my time machine!
Superb video. Nice to compare the line from Leven to how it is now having reopened a few weeks ago. 09.00 is roughly where the new Cameron Bridge station is, the old one seen here having closed in 1969, but remarkably still with the footbridge in place.
Thank you for your kind comment - much appreciated.
Peter Watts and Andy Mustoe from Fand W railtours. Caroline
Great footage of the class 47 and 50 tours at Marazion. I was standing to the left of you as the tours returned past here. Karl.
Thank you! Nice to have seen you there - I do remember.
This is why - whilst it might not 'look' as good - it's always useful having a diesel loco at the back of a light-engined steam consist like this.
The whole “tiny home” trend? An acre of land in the countryside, living in a Class 50 😉💪✅ I know your plums are pumping fellas. ❤
Do you have any videos of the late 90s Of BNSF and Santa Fe ? I would like to see them please
Sadly not - started in mid 2000s. Cameras then were so big and heavy the airplane wouldn't get off the ground to take us there! :-)
That takes me back. I’ve always liked 20s,always a pleasure to get that handle back 😁
Never thought that when I filmed it at the time it would bring back so many good memories - glad I did it!
Excellent video The funny thing is no heads or limbs where lost during the making of the video Unlike today’s H+S freaks
Great point! Things were a lot different in those days! Thanks for the nice comment.
Superb, Sulzer power!👌
Indeed!
Congratulations, they made it without catching fire! 🧯🚒 Though one definitely seemed to be pretty much idling
Fail is what happened. Failure is the verb.
Whoosh my Lords!
Was that first one actually firing on coal as well as pulling coal wagons? :) :) it’s a beautiful sight either way! Thanks for the vid
Ein Urvieh
The soundtrack to my childhood in the 80s. Lived next to a main line. The 37s wobbled my stomach, until we got double glazing. Also had a loft layout, with live soundtrack from the big railway. Long before digital sound locos!
Beautiful locomotives. My favourite of the nez cassés because of the single pantograph. I've got a collection of LS Models BB15000s. The models really capture the look of these wonderful beasts. Thanks for the great and informative upload!
Many thanks! Appreciate the positive feedback!
Train - 1 Fail - 0
Day's gone by, thanks.
No problem - glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video TY😊
Thank you so much - much appreciated.
43:04 Nice to see 1855 plus some ex NMBS K4 stock - they were only used on the Den Haag - Venlo IC services between 2000 and 2002 - and again at 47:27 with 1761
Yes, took it all for granted back in them days! Glad that you picked this out!
An absolutely wonderful video. Great to see such quality video of the SNCF classes and brings back happy memories of the CFL ones. It is not only a superb compilation, but a great historical record. I wonder why those BB16500 always seemed to be dead in tow!
Great feedback - many thanks indeed!
